Colorado State University Professor Joins AAEP Board of Directors

Luke Bass, DVM, MS, DABVP, assistant professor and head of the Equine Field Service at the Colorado State University College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, has joined the American Association of Equine Practitioners’ board of directors. Dr. Bass was installed during the Dec. 4 President’s Luncheon at the AAEP’s 64th Annual Convention in San Francisco, Calif. His three-year term expires in 2021. 

Dr. Bass received his veterinary degree in 2007 from Colorado State University and joined the faculty in 2013, following six years in private practice in California and Colorado. His focus is equine ambulatory medicine and teaching veterinary students and undergraduate equine science. He also serves as faculty advisor for the school’s AAEP student chapter. 

An AAEP member since 2003, Dr. Bass serves on the CE Steering Committee and as co-facilitator of the Model Education Task Force. He previously served on the Educational Programs, Membership Development and Student Relations committees. He has published in refereed and non-refereed journals and presented multiple abstracts at the AAEP Annual Convention. 

The American Association of Equine Practitioners, headquartered in Lexington, Ky., was founded in 1954 as a non-profit organization dedicated to the health and welfare of the horse. Currently, AAEP reaches more than 5 million horse owners through its over 9,000 members worldwide and is actively involved in ethics issues, practice management, research and continuing education in the equine veterinary profession and horse industry.
