Transitioning Retired Racehorses

Racehorses can be very successful in other careers after retiring from racing. Many are donated to retirement faciretired racehorselities that provide permanent sanctuary as well as retraining and adoption to suitable homes.

The intended use of the retired racehorse has a large bearing on the horse's rehoming potential. The equine veterinarian can provide guidance, both at the track and at the retirement facility, regarding the appropriate placement for these athletes.
