Pennsylvania Group Practice Owner Joins AAEP Board of Directors

James Zeliff, DVM, MBA, founder and managing partner of Allegheny Equine in Murrysville, Penn., a multi-doctor, clinic-based ambulatory practice, has joined the board of directors of the American Association of Equine Practitioners (AAEP). Dr. Zeliff was installed Dec. 9 during the AAEP’s 2020 Annual Convention & Trade Show. His three-year term expires in 2023.

After receiving his veterinary degree from Purdue University in 1988, Dr. Zeliff completed an internship at the Elmont Equine Hospital at Belmont Park in New York, before relocating to western Pennsylvania in 1989. He opened his current practice in 1992. His primary interests are equine reproduction, sports medicine, lameness and practice management. Dr. Zeliff completed his MBA in 2019. 

Dr. Zeliff is in the second year of a six-year term as AAEP’s representative to the AVMA Legislative Advisory Council, having served as alternate representative from 2012-2018. In addition, he serves on the AAEP’s Welfare & Public Policy Advisory Council and Foundation Advisory Council, and he is immediate past president of the Northeast Association of Equine Practitioners.
